But once you’ve managed to locate the Sogar Theater in a hidden backyard in the Kreis 5 district, you’ll be back there time and time again. This little gem is a unique ode to literature. Founded in 1998 at Josefstrasse 106, it tells us stories based on adaptations of literary works, staged readings or theatrical performance. Now a firmly established part of Zurich’s indie theatre scene, the literary theatre has no ensemble of its own. Instead, it works with well-known actors and actresses in leading or guest roles to offer big-time theatre in a minimum of space with seating for a maximum of 60. And after the performance, the theatre bar is the perfect place to discuss what you’ve just watched.
