Since it opened, the Bebek is always packed to the last seat. Seems like the generous space, the 5-metre ceilings, the Rosenbar on the first floor and the view straight into the tram depot attract the whole of Zurich. On the other hand, there’s the cosmopolitan interior: from the Prouvé-style Vitra tables to the custom-made, vintage-style armchairs, or the frescoes by Nic Hess. Another – or perhaps the – reason punters flock to the Kalkbreite is the choice of moderately priced, mouth-watering specialities. They include dishes from the eastern Mediterranean, such as Turkish menemem and börek or bulgur kibbeh and stuffed pastries from Syria and Lebanon. They are rounded off with in-house creations that combine Levantine aromas with local elements and bring happiness to people from all kinds of cultural backgrounds and age groups: from early to late, seven days a week.
